Abstract— The objective of this work was to prepare the prospecting of patent registries for breast cancer and drugs against this disease, registered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), ESPACENET and the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). The methodological procedure adopted was the exploratory research using the terms breast cancer and breast cancer patents in these databases in two periods: the first general and the second of patents published from 1996 to 2016. The results showed that, in addition to a substantial reduction In the number of patents published in both periods, the word breast cancer brought records of findings about the disease, and breast cancer patents studies of drugs for treatment and prevention. Consequently, there was a large reduction in the number of patents related to treatment and medicines.
